English working environment – Part 1

1. Before a meeting

Hủy hoặc hoãn cuộc họp, có những cụm từ được dùng khá phổ biến trong tiếng Anh:

To call (something) off: hủy thứ gì đó

Ex: Some of your colleagues couldn’t attend the meeting so it has been called off.

To push (something) back: hoãn/ dời lịch

Ex: It has now been rescheduled and pushed back to next month.

2. During a meeting

Nói về những chủ đề khác nhau trong cuộc họp và có những tranh luận, hãy nhớ sử dụng những cụm từ sau:

To bring (something) up = To mention: đề cập

Ex: You want to talk about a particular matter so you bring it up during the meeting.

To come up with (something): Nghĩ đến điều gì, đưa ra một ý tưởng mới

Ex: During a work discussion, you come up with a great idea.

To take on something extra: đồng ý nhận thêm trách nhiệm

Ex: Your boss wants you to take on some extra work.

3. A typical day at the office

To switch (something) on: khởi động (thiết bị điện)

Ex: You switch on your computer when you arrive at the office.

To jot (something) down: viết thông tin

Ex: You jot down what you need to do during the day.

To back (something) up: sao lưu (files)

Ex: You always back up your files.

To run out of (something): hết nguyên liệu

Ex: It’s annoying when the printer runs out of ink.

To get along with (someone): hòa hợp, có mối quan hệ tốt

Ex: You get along well with your colleagues.

To carry (something) out: thực hiện/ hoàn thành cái gì đó

Ex: You carry out the tasks you are required to do.
